Frequently Asked Questions
General
How can I find out if you’re doing any book signings or appearances?
Easy! Just peek at my News Page or my Facebook page or my Patreon. That’s where I post signings, conventions, and fun events.
How can I contact you?
The best way is through my Patreon or my Contact Page. I love hearing from readers! (Just a heads-up: I can’t review manuscripts or accept story ideas, but I’ll always cheer you on from afar.)
Do you have social media pages?
Yes! You can find me on Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, TikTok, and Patreon. That’s where I share behind-the-scenes peeks, recipes, and a bit of everyday life. I am not on anything else other than those specific links/pages. Anyone else saying otherwise is not true, and is not coming from me. If I join anything else, you will find out via my official pages listed above.
Do you have a fan club or mailing list?
Not yet, but think of my Patreon as a cozy kitchen table where you can pull up a chair, grab some tea, and get sneak peeks, stories, and magical extras before they’re anywhere else. If you would like to start a fan club for me, then message me, and we can discuss it.
What are your thoughts on book banning?
Books are bridges, not walls. Stories connect us, even when they make us angry, squirm, cry, or perhaps laugh out loud. Not everyone is going to like every book or even agree with them, but they should never be silenced. It’s easy enough to choose not to read it.
Writing
Why did you become a writer?
Because stories and the written word saved me. They’ve always been how I made sense of grief, joy, heartache, and the magic tucked inside ordinary days.
Where do you get your ideas?
Everywhere! From food, from folklore, from travel, from my children, from asking “what if?” at the most inconvenient moments (like while making dinner or folding laundry).
Will you read my manuscript?
I wish I could, but I can’t, for legal and time reasons. That said, please don’t stop writing. The world needs your story, too.
Can you give me writing tips?
Write often, write messy, write even when you think it’s terrible. Magic happens in the rewriting. Most importantly: your voice matters.
Do you teach courses or workshops?
Not yet, but I’m planning retreats and workshops where we can mix writing, food, and healing. Think cozy gathering meets creative spark.
The Enchanted Pantry
What inspired The Enchanted Pantry recipe series?
Food is memory. Food is story. I’ve always felt recipes carry folklore the same way fairy tales do. The series grew from that love of cooking and the way it connects us to magic. In fact, the Enchanted Pantry recipe series inspired the Syllabub of Thistlewick adventures!
Are the recipes real?
Yes! Every recipe can be made in a real kitchen. In the Syllabub stories, the recipes often appear in the creatures’ own “original style” and are written the way goblins, faeries, or other beings might record them. However, they are “translated” and “adapted” for humans, so while the lore stays magical, the dishes are practical, delicious, and perfectly doable in our world too.
Will there be more books after Recipes from Realms Beyond?
Absolutely. The series is just getting started. Breakfasts, feasts, brews, sweets, and more are waiting for their turn at the table.
The Syllabub Adventures
Who is Syllabub of Thistlewick?
He’s a culinary alchemist, wanderer, and reluctant hero with a knack for stumbling into trouble and cooking his way out of it. He’s witty, stubborn, and has a soft spot for lost souls and simmering stews.
How many Syllabub books will there be?
Plenty! The adventures are planned as a long-running series. Each book ties to a recipe that’s revealed through the story itself.
Do I need to read them in order?
It helps (you’ll catch all the little threads of lore), but each book is its own complete adventure. Think of them like recipes; you can enjoy one at a time or the whole feast.
Other Works
What is Once Upon a Memory?
It’s my first published book. It is a collection of poems I wrote as a teenager and young adult. It’s all about love, loss, and family, with plenty of heart between the lines. Some are pretty dark, reflecting times of pain and abuse, while others shine with the sparks of resilience that helped pull me through.
Will you publish more poetry?
Yes. Poetry has always been part of me, and it will keep slipping out between the stories and recipes.
Appearances & Signings
How do I get your autograph?
Come see me at a signing! Dates and details will always be posted on my News Page.
Do you do virtual signings?
Not yet, but it’s in the plan. I want readers near and far to be able to join in, so keep an eye on my Patreon or other social media pages listed above for when the first one goes live.
